To get started with this recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can cook kue lapis (steamed layer cake) using 6 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook it.

The ingredients needed to make KUE LAPIS (Steamed Layer Cake):
  1. Make ready 250 grams rice flour250 grams of rice flour
  2. Get 100 grams tapioca flour
  3. Make ready 300 grams sugar
  4. Get 1/2 teaspoon salt
  5. Prepare 900-950 ml coconut milk (medium thickness)
  6. Make ready To taste food coloring (I used green and pink)

Indonesians use the word kue very loosely, so kue doesn't always taste sweet as in cake. Kue can also taste savory as in snacks. Instructions to make KUE LAPIS (Steamed Layer Cake):
  1. First mix all the dry ingredients together, add the coconut milk a little at a time so that it doesn't get gnarled, then stir until everything is well blended and the coconut milk runs out.
  2. Next, heat the steamer, grease the pan with a little oil.
  3. Then divide the dough into 3 parts and give the coloring according to taste.  (I used green and pink, and left one white, stirring until the color is even.
  4. Pour the dough into the pan (you can use a measure so that the thickness is the same), steam until the surface is solid, about 5 minutes using medium heat.  Pour the next layer and do it until the dough runs out.  After that, add 20 minutes of mucus.
  5. After cooking, remove it from the steamer and let it cool completely, just cut it, cover the knife with plastic so it's neat.
