The ingredients needed to make Cottage Pie:
  1. Take 1 large onion - diced
  2. Prepare 2 large carrots - diced
  3. Prepare 1 stick celery - diced
  4. Make ready 500 grams beef mince
  5. Make ready 1 tbsp tomato puree
  6. Make ready 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  7. Make ready 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
  8. Take 2 tbsp flour
  9. Get 500 ml beef stock
  10. Get 200 grams mushrooms - sliced
  11. Get 800 grams potatoes - diced
  12. Take Butter and milk to mash potatoes
Steps to make Cottage Pie:
  1. Brown onions, carrots and celery in a large pan.
  2. Add mince and continue cooking until brown.
  3. Add tomato puree, worcestershire sauce, mixed herbs and flour, stir together and add beef stock and mushrooms.
  4. Continue cooking with a lid on for 30 mins on a low heat.
  5. In a separate pan bring potatoes to the boil in salted water and cook until tender.
  6. Transfer meat mixture to a large pie dish.
  7. Mash potatoes with plenty of butter and a little milk.
  8. Spread mash on top of meat evenly and fluff with a fork.
  9. Place pie under a pre-heated grill until golden brown.
